FAQ (Baseball and Softball)
Q: Is it too late to sign up?
A: Feb 3 is the start date for sign ups. Sign up closes at midnight Feb 24th. Sign ups after that will only be approved as needed to fill rosters. We will have parent/coach meeting Feb 27th.
Q: What else do I have to do besides register online?
A: We must have a birth certificate for the league and you will also need to fill out and sign Medical Release Form. When you register, you will be required to click that you have read the media release info below, and player/parent agreement on conduct.
Q: How can I become a coach?
A: You will need to contact League President, Ostin Broadhead, with your information. Background checks are required for all coaches (head or assistant).
Q: How old does my child have to be to play baseball or softball?
A: Player must be 4 years old before January 1, 2025. Player cannot be 13 years old before January 1, 2025. (Divisions: T-ball age 4-6, Coach pitch age 7-8, Player pitch age 9-10, Player pitch age 10-12.)
Q: Does Tri-County have 6U (T-ball) softball?
A: Tri-County plays a 6U softball division. OK Kids only recognizes Co-ed baseball in 6U T-ball for state tournament.
Q: When do practices start?
A: Practices will begin in March at coaches discretion.
Q: When do games start?
A: Games (league play) begins in April. Post season ends by June 30th.
Q: Do you practice on weeknights or weekends?
A: Practices will be scheduled through Board on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday. No practice or games played on Wednesdays.
Q: Do we play games on the weekend?
A: Regular season games will be on weeknights excluding Wednesdays. Preseason tournaments and postseason tournaments could include Saturday play.
Q: How much does it cost to play?
A: $125 to register plus uniform which will be decided by teams.
Q: What other costs besides registration can I expect?
A: Basic equipment cost per player includes cleats, glove, and a helmet. Players may purchase their own bat, but not required. Other cost would be uniforms; socks, pants, belts, jersey, and hat.
Q: Where are the games played?
A: Home games indicated on schedule will be played in Kiefer. Away games will be played at other team’s field.
Q: What towns play in Tri-County?
A: Tri-County is currently made up by eleven towns. It is broken down into North and South divisions. Kiefer will be in the North division- Kiefer, Mounds, Beggs, Preston, Morris and Twin Hills. South division consists of Okmulgee, Henryetta, Weleetka, Wetumka and Okemah.
Q: How many nights a week do teams practice?
A: Teams will practice two nights a week. This can be altered due to inclement weather. (rainouts)
Q: How do I know if game or practice is rained out?
A: Coaches will be notified of schedule change due to weather by 3:00 pm any day there is a practice or game scheduled in Kiefer.
Q: What rules are used by Tri-County?
A: OK Kids rules and regulations are used by Tri-County. Any rules not in OK Kids will be ruled on using O.S.S.A.A. rule book. (See below)
